Green girl

Green dress by JBC

Summer is gone, but does that mean you can’t wear your summer dresses anymore? No, of course not. Some dresses can serve you perfectly well through the transition from summer to fall. Just try it out. Add a pair of stockings and a jacket, et voil√†.

I should warn you, though, not all dresses look well with dark stockings so look in the mirror before you leave the house. If you’re feeling like an idiot, you should probably try a different dress. Just saying. If you can’t figure it out, you may always send me a picture of you wearing the summer dress in autumn-modus and then I’ll try to figure it out for you.

I went for the green dress, because I wanted to show you that you don’t necessarily need to buy new things to be “en vogue”. A trend this autumn/winter season is green. Army green, grass green, … all green. I bought this dress last spring at JBC, so who’s going to tell me I can’t wear it now. So take a dive in your own closet before you rush to the stores.

Something else I’d like to show are the jewellery I’m wearing. I made those myself in less than an hour. What I want to tell you with this is: there is no better way to make your style and outfit unique than to add something homemade. It’s fun, it’s creative, it’s a piece of you. I really recommend trying this out for yourself. If you don’t want to buy all the tools, you can easily join a workshop. Try it!

To make the line above my eyes, I used a product that's new to me. It’s a smokey eyeliner by The Body Shop. I love it. You can make it look just as dramatic as a liquid eyeliner, but it’s softer and therefore blends with the rest of the make-up more easily. The best perks of this eyeliner are: it’s much easier to apply and you can still correct a little. Two things that are basically  none existent with liquid eyeliner.

Your thoughts?

Would you wear a summer dress during autumn? How about green? Your colour or do you prefer something else?

Soft and cuddly

White blouse by Mint&Berry
Skirt by New Look

Comfortable is notably all the rage this season and I couldn’t be happier! I mean, what’s not to like about soft fabrics to feel all warm and fuzzy. Sitting by the fire on a snowy day with a thick and cosy blanket, reading a good old fashioned novel… In case you haven’t noticed: I love wintertime. Too bad I don’t actually have a fire, so I’ll just be sitting by the radiator. You’ve got to admit though, it doesn’t really have a nice ring to it. So I’ll just go on and imagine myself sitting by a warm and beautiful open fire, preferably with twinkling Christmas lights draped over the mantelpiece (√† la the Christmas scene in Sherlock season 2 episode 1).

Right, before I get to carried away: this trend is all about soft fabrics for skirts. Wools, flannels that sort of thing. If you like it, even in soft pastels. I combined my skirt by New Look with a white blouse by Mint&Berry and I wore black Mary Janes by T.U.K..

Mary Janes by T.U.K.

You could wear a turtleneck jumper with the skirt as well, to go even further with the comfy look (and to stay warm when it’s actually winter). I like this look best with heels, but you could go for an even more casual look by wearing a pair of ankle boots.

Easy does it, so don't go thinking to hard about the combination. If you feel good in it, it's all good!

Simply wear something that’s comfortable for you, after all that’s what this trend is all about. You can make it cute, sparkly, casual,… it’s up to you!

Your thoughts?

Looking forward to wintertime? What’s your winter fantasy? Are you in with the comfy trend or would you much rather dress up more?

Army glamour

Skirt, stockings, shoes and bag by H&M
Blouse with attached necklace and jacket by Mango

An oldie, but apparently a goody. Back en vogue is the army style. Army greens and straight coats and jackets. Chain stores like H&M and Zara give you many options regarding this trend. So if you like this trend on you, there’s really no excuses not to gift yourself with some though army vibes!

Paired with brown Chelsea boots and minimalist jewelery to keep it casual.

Since I’m a winter type, army green isn't really my colour. But when I saw this skirt, I had to have it! I combined it with a black blouse, seeing as black is in fact a winter colour. This is the best tip I can give you when you like a colour but it doesn't do your face much good, just wear it in a skirt  are a pair of trousers.

Golden eyeshadow with black eyeliner, to keep the look from turning boring above the skirt.
Make-up brand used: Farmasi

The great thing concerning this look? It has got shiny sequins! And with that it is a combination with another trend, which is sparkles. Sparkles, sparkles, sparkles! You really can’t have enough of them this Autumn/Winter season. Christmas starts early and you get to decorate… Yourself! So go ahead and brighten up those dreary autumn and winter days with sequins and statement jewelery.

Your thoughts?

I would like to know your opinion: Are you feeling the army vibes? Do you like sparkles or is it all a little too much for you? Will you be looking for some statement jewellery pieces or do you still believe that less is more?

Birds in the park

Chica dress by Louche

Here comes the sun! School has started and then the sun comes out to shine once more. Time for me to put on this summer dress from Louche. Since birds and feathers are one of the new trends for this year’s fall/winter season, this look is bang on trend. Simply add a pair of stockings and a blazer and you’re good to go.

Feather earings by Claire's
Louche is a reasonably affordable British label I discovered when I visited London two years ago and I instantly fell in love. From that very moment my favourite shop was Joy the Store, their other labels are somewhat in the same style and therefore worth checking out! They also sell the cutest knickknacks, like notebooks, mugs, boxes… In short: Heaven for someone like me, with an inexplicable attraction to all this cuteness.

Beige pumps by Linea Loresi

I paired this look with a purse my grandmother found in her closet and decided she wasn’t planning on using it anymore.

Rectangle purse by Marta Ponti

I chose to wear simple beige pumps as this is summer look (which might not have been the wisest decision with the wet grass). During fall I’d wear this dress with black pumps or mary janes.

Your thoughts?

Will you wear birds and/or feathers? Have you ever heard of Louche? If yes, what’s your opinion? If no, check it out!

First project

Here it is, after working at it for over 2 weeks and thinking about it a whole lot longer. My blog. It’s not really the first one, but I do consider it to be the first “real” one. One I want to put my energy to. Because now I feel like my blog has a purpose. I know what I want to write about and I’m not just “doing something”. I think that’s important for the success of any project. To know exactly what you want to do and what you want to achieve with it.

This weekend is the first weekend of autumn so I’m ready only just in time with my first project. I want to show you how you can somewhat follow the major fashion trends without needing a loan. So I have been doing some research by reading fashion magazines and looking at website of different affordable stores to find the cheaper equivalent of those fashion trends. However I do want to point out that I don’t believe you should follow any trends like a slave. To me the most important part of fashion is to express who you really are, not to become someone you’re not. So find your own style, experiment but stay true to who you really are. I hope my next series of articles may help you find inspiration for just that.

Your thoughts?

Are you interested in fashion or does it not really matter much to you what you’re wearing? What’s more important: Fashion or style and image?

Love, Kitty.

Beauty is…

Beauty can be many things

What exactly is beauty? Is it how someone looks, the right clothes, the right make-up? No, beauty can be many things and it’s different for each individual. Beauty isn’t just about aesthetics. Beauty is about finding peace, calm and harmony in everyday things. It’s a feeling, an emotion. It can be nature and art or love, friendship and spirituality,… It can be a way to find more balance in life, to make sense of things.

What it means to me

For me beauty is something I seek in everything I do. I don’t look for it consciously, it sneaks up on me and strikes me. It feels like the warmth of the sun hitting my heart. I find this feeling in so many things: a beautiful landscape, the vibrant colour of a flower, spending time with family, hearing a piece of extraordinary music, but also in a well-balanced outfit or beautiful make-up. It can be small, it can be big. The more you keep your eyes open for it, the more it’ll hit you. That’s what I want to do: keep my eyes open and start to consciously look. Too many days are passing without us really taking notice, I want to break through this. This blog is my way of doing exactly that. It’s my way to search for my place in the world. I want this blog to not just be an inspiration for myself, but for others as well. Don’t get yourself stuck in one way of living if that way does not fit you. Find out what drives you and find your own way.
My beautiful family

My hopes for this blog

I have quite high hopes for this blog. One could argue that it might be wiser not to put the bar so high from the very beginning, but why not? Why should we not challenge ourselves? How can we ever break through if we never challenge ourselves? That is why I hope my blog can be an inspiration to others, to you and also to myself. I would like to use this blog to keep track of everything that drives me, my passions, hobbies, interests,… To give it all more purpose and depth. If I can touch even just one person by doing all this, that would be absolutely marvellous.

This blog is for you

Last but not least I want you, the reader, to know that this blog is also meant for you. Is there any subject you would like me to write about? Do you have any questions whatsoever? Is there anything I may be able to help you with? Please, do feel free to contact me so I can look into it!

Your thoughts?

I am interested, what does beauty mean to you? Let me know in the comments!
Thank you so much for reading and I hope you’ll come back for more.

Love, Kitty.
